Life is a circle ? & this situation may come to you also once you grow and gain experience, you'll also be under pressure and similarly you may transfer the same pressure to your team. ??Everything can be sorted out after a discussion, for one organisation you are not the right candidate, while for other organisations you are over suitable, sometimes you are the best suitable, so wait till that time and respect the situation and time.

Network security is a great background as it opens many different doors in other areas of Security. As a recruiter in the Security market, I've seen network security professionals move into broader security engineering roles, security architecture positions and cloud security. Certifications such as CISSP or CCSP will help you to progress your career in security architecture or cloud security.

Boundaries are curcial in maintaining an efficient and consistent flow of work. In a firm, but respectful manner, an individual should ensure that their boss is aware that the amount of pressure that is being put on them is not only affecting them, but will begin to affect the overal operability of your department. Not only does the individual lose the drive to perform the tasks, but they begin performing tasks at a rate that just checks the block. That means less collaborating amongst departments, higher chance to burnout, and difficulty maintaining focus. Bosses want people that take on tasks and own them. However, this cannot occur when the environment that an individual is operating in becomes unbearable.

In my role as a Security recruiter, I see many candidates looking for a new job because they haven't set boundaries and their boss/company has pushed them too far. They are over-utilised and don't feel valued any more. In the short term, pushing limits might solve an immediate problem for your boss but in the longer term, it's better for both yourself and your company to stick to clear boundaries that are sustainable.

As a recruiter in the network security space, my advice would be to look for a new role in a more supportive company. Update your LinkedIn profile with all your relevant certifications and experience, and turn on your 'open to work' button. You should also update your CV and make sure it focuses on what you have achieved in your career (not just a list of responsibilities/tasks). Then reach out to ex colleagues and specialist recruiters in the network security space to ask for assistance with your job search. I usually advise candidates to stay in their current role while looking for a job if they can, as this takes the pressure off and means you can take your time to find the right position and company.

In my experience, a move from network security to cloud security is a well trodden path. With cloud security in such demand currently, it's worth thinking about making that transition if you are a network security professional thinking of changing roles. Certifications such as the CCSP, or a cloud vendor certification would help with this move.
