What do you do if your boss criticizes your work?

Millones de elogios de sus fans pero una sola crítica los da?a. Así que en primer lugar te recomiendo respirar profundo, no tomarlo como algo personal aunque parezca serlo. No te pongas a la defensiva. No reacciones emocionalmente. Mantené la calma y escuchá atentamente.

Feedback is someone′s else point of view, and understanding that point of view can help you understand, change, share information, grow. If you react emotionally, ask yourself why does it bother you if they are offering a gift. Emotions bring valuable information for us to act on.

El feedback es solo el juicio de otra persona, no quiere decir que sea la realidad. Aún así y aún cuando no se entregado de la mejor manera, te recomiendo escuchar, ver qué de bueno podes sacar de ello. El feedback es como un espejo que te muestra tus puntos ciegos.

This is critical when receiving feedback. Many conflicts arise when we interpret what other′s say instead of clarifying meaning. This is very important ability to master, so can we can avoid defensiveness and improve understanding.

Avoid assuming that you understand, it is better to ask the obvious than to assume meaning that hurts. Ask questions regarding why is this important, how to do it better, what is the expectation, when does something happen, and for examples. Clarification is a really powerfull tool we all have at our disposal but that we seldom use thinking we are understanding. Use clarification in all your conversations and you will have more in depth ones.

It's crucial to demonstrate accountability by not only acknowledging mistakes but by implementing sustainable solutions. If your boss is like me, I take corrective feedback for employees very seriously. I wouldn't mention it if it's something that could slide or was a one-off occurrence. What I am seeking is acknowledgment and, if warranted, an apology. More importantly, your explanation of how this happened and a plan to ensure it won't reoccur. Your perspective on the situation and an apology will greatly assist in resolving this mistake. When considering how to proceed differently, ensure it's something you can commit to. The worst outcome would be to receive feedback, commit to corrective actions, but then fail to follow through.

Si los comentarios son vagos o imprecisos, pregunta, pide ejemplos en los que esas expectativas no se cumplieron. Recuerda no preguntar a la defensiva sino con el ánimo de entender. Esto demuestra tu disposición para aprender y mejorar.
