This is it. If you do anything, do this: add value. Be so good they can't ignore you. Go the extra mile, work harder, longer... if you are an intern and you show the qualities needed to succeed in sales while not even being paid fully... anyone would be stupid not hiring you later on. Also, don't overthink it, if you can show you're willing to work hard, are coachable (meaning, you're a sponge taking up knowledge) and proactive, you're already in the top 1%. Be so good they can't ignore you.

In my 35 years plus of experience you have to have the ‘right personality’ and be a people person… engaging with the customer, be a great listener, then often times you will have a return customer that will appreciate your service.
