Writing every day is a great way to hone one's writing skills. Of course, there's the place of extensive reading but every writer who desires to become an expert at writing must write. You get better at writing by actually making out time to write EVERY DAY. To make this easier, seek out writing communities where you can share your contents daily. Moreover, join writing communities that host writing challenges. These will keep you on your toes and ensure you write every day.

Always write honestly and openly. Write what you know. Be clear and concise. Draw on your own life experiences. Relay those with honesty and integrity. Never compromise on the quality of your spelling and grammar. Check your work once completed - twice! Read extensively. Remember ‘every book writes a book’!

Networking is a valuable part of any career, but especially writing. I'm not just saying that. Writing communities, from my own experience, tend to be some of the closest, tight-knit communities around. If you have a strong network behind you, you will find work. And this is true for either freelancing, or salaried work. I have built an author/writer network over the past 10 years, and I have learned many things. 1. A (good) network will always provide advice, help, and (hopefully) jokes to ease rejection. 2. A (good) network will be open to working with you collaboratively, either through writing with each other, or by recommending you to their friends. Networking is essential to your success, especially in the writing industry.

Being open to feedback from others is an extremely valuable quality. Even more so when you actively encourage and invite feedback. Nobody’s first draft is ever perfect (some second, third and fourth drafts may not even scratch the surface), and one of the best ways to incorporate different perspectives and improve each draft is to receive and apply responses from the reader. In addition to the above, acknowledging others’ input is a fantastic way to include many voices into your work, creating a much more holistic and balanced final result. Utilise feedback and leverage feedback as an avenue to further develop writing skills, not to limit your work.

In today's date, even an entry-level writer can make her way to "The Chair" that a seasoned writer had been eyeing for 6 years. Here's my take on how that's possible: 1) To begin with, understand the primary point that has been outlined in this article. Hone your skills! There's no one way of doing so. a) Keep signing up for several workshops, affairs, sessions, and webinars where you get immense exposure, you learn a lot, and you end up having loads to share with your network and maybe even a certificate to acknowledge your participation. b) Keep registering for distinctive certified courses encircling around your field. 2) Be consistent with publicizing your craft daily. 3) Build a great network and engage wisely.

Get a writing mentor! ???? Learning from more experienced, established people in your field can help you faster and more efficiently than trying to do it all on your own. Having that extra layer of accountability can help ensure you don't lose focus on what you want to achieve.
