In order to exceed expectations in an industry is to be willing to do a little bit more. You need to know your company and the products that you sell. There is competition all around you and you need to know and understand how to explain and persuade to your clientele why your product is the best and why your company and product is the item/place they need to choose. You are making a lifetime relationship and friend, not a one-time transaction.

As a manager of many and many people. I fine that the quote “follow the leader”, makes more sense. People learn and deliver expectations that are written. But commitment is shown through our actions as managers and leaders. What they see is what they do. Not just what they are told to do. I find that the only way we learn ourselves as managers, is by doing a test run on all of the things you want people to do. We are never to high up to keep learning from our employees. They are the front runners in all that we expect them to do.

One of the simplest ways to avoid difficulties at work, verbal communication. I tell individuals on my team all the time, “People don’t read minds, communicate.” If you’re frustrated with something/someone at work, find a calm and professional way to communicate why with that person on your team. Often times, we have preconceived expectations, the only thing is, no one but us knows what they are! So, it’s important to just have those conversations, professionally and constructively, to avoid unnecessary conflict at work. Being proactive and transparent in communication prevents conflict. 100%. Lastly, it’s also important as leaders to recognize when someone has the courage to communicate with others to encourage that transparency at work.

It's a delicate balancing act when you decide to go the extra mile - with customers. In my experience, and certainly in the industry I work in which is bridal retail, the more you give, the more the customers don't buy! It's a very odd phenomenon and true. Bending over backwards isn't always the best way to proceed. Plus, when you do, it is often those customers who bring problems down the line. As with everything, do your best to deliver superb customer service and care - which are different things. Be natural, add that human touch and deliver your presentation with fairness.

I have learned that the most impressive people are the ones that struggle the most to learn. They love to see that their hard work comes with great outcomes. We are only as strong as our weakest link. And the pillars of all companies stand in great foundations. Customers appreciate people who try hard to please vs the ones that play know it alls. We cannot allow ourselves to get arrogant just because we are experienced. Stay humble. People buy that as a sign that they are not just a number. They matter. People buy from people.

Just like a baton race. Everyone has a part. Teaching people to work together is understanding each other’s weaknesses. So we understand where we need to pick up if someone falls short. Showing each other that we are working together to reach the same objective. Everyone has a strength and weakness. Know what it is as a manager and teaching employees to overcome them is key to help everyone synchronize and tune in to help in growing together and working as a team. Team Gold. That’s the focus.
