The easiest way to make the leap towards an impact career is to expose yourself more to the problem you care about. You care about climate resilience: spend time with farmers when there is a drought. You care about quality education: spend time in government schools. For me, immersion with the people who face the problem first hand stirs emotions that bring clarity to my values and the way I want to spend my work-life. We work 8-10h per day, that's 60% of our awake time. If you don't align your values with what your do in this time, how is life ever going to be fulfilling?

The one big misconception about working in social impact is that you have to be on the frontline to make it. No. You can start achieving social impact within your industry, within your company, and sometimes even within your current job position. Before overwhelming yourself with highly ambitious plans of transitioning to a different career, have a deepdive into the opportunities you have at hand. You may initiate social impact projects at your current job. You might find a way to transition to an ESG department. Or you might find a job within your industry, but within a company that commits more to charitable causes. The possibilities are endless: do your research and talk to as many people as possible.
