The Additive Manufacturing Community is small, but growing. Your name and reputation are your most valuable commodities. Begin having conversations with people at events and you'll find "Connectors" who have been in the industry for years and will help you with warm introductions. Also, find your niche and give as much value/insight as possible and don't expect anything in return. Be authentic and never add needless hype or promise capabilities that are not yet real. In the not so distant past, I called 1 key contact/friend from the DOD which led to a sale with revenue numbers I couldn't have dreamed of when I entered the industry. Be kind and pay it forward.

Our company does anywhere from 5 to 9 trade shows a year, mostly in Additive Manufacturing, if you are talking to a vendor listen to what differentiates their solution from others in a positive way. If you don't understand all the acronyms, just ask, sometimes people will talk about what they know without realizing that everyone is not at that stage yet. Be sincere, if you are buying , say so, if not that's OK but you don't need to pretend.

3D printing is exciting, some people still believe its new technology and shocked when we tell them its been over 30 years. I love sharing how additive manufacturing can help someone solve a technical problem/issue, whether in metal or polymer. Not all times though does 3D printing fit the need, traditional manufacturing will always be around, its more of a hybrid model at the moment.

This is key, follow up immediately , they saw many technologies at the show, your company needs to have an ROI for them to invest again in the show. Do your part and keep in touch, find their pains, hot buttons and see how your solution can solve those.
