There is no better way doing this than learning from doing projects.

One of the ways in which I stay updated is learn the basics and then find a small project or kaggle kernel or colab notebook to replicate it. Once you have replicated and are confident write about it, this reflective exercise deepens my understanding.

Participating in hackathons provide you opportunity to explore new problems. You will get data to experiment there. There will be discussion forums during hackathons. I have been working on NLP use cases since last 5 years. This has been the most effective source of learning NLP for me.

Keep looking for paper releases, product releases by top AI Research Firms like OpenAI, Google etc. This field is fast evolving and you can only to stay ahead in the curve if you keep upgrading your skill sets.

One thing I've found helpful is looking at research papers for newly released models to see what gaps or limitations newer models are seeking to address. The driver behind the research focus around SOTA models can clue you in to which projects or use cases will have the highest probability of success.

Resolve the errors such as Deprecation of libraries, models etc. Chunk the code with comments for your deeper understanding. This would be a first pass towards learning, the next step would be to read up on newer concepts and repeat the execution piece.
