It is not fair to reduce the understanding of engineering to just an act of listening. Any engineering knowledge needs strong basic knowledge in science and mathematics and an acumen to internslise the concepts. Yes, one can enhance the already existing engineering knowledge by various perceptive methods of which, listening is one. But then, one needs to be careful in selecting the 'right' speaker to listen to. It is not easy to find an able guru.
