Finally, wherever you are looking to advance, you may not have the exact skill set that they are looking for based on your resume or LinkedIn profile. Once you’ve decided on a department or position that you want to go for, take time to speak with someone in that department to let them know that you are applying for the position or have the desire to move into their department to ensure that you are being considered during the application process.
