What's the most important secret you must know when applying for contract work? I learned this lesson the hard way. I used to think I must do all I can to get the contract. After all, that's how you get paid, right? I was wrong. The secret is, you have to be selective. Choose your clients wisely. You don't want to find out that some clients will set you back! So have your criteria for what you will and won't accept. It may feel counter-intuitive but that's how you'll improve your writing career. Remember, not everyone will be a good fit for you. Be selective. Only work on projects that align with your values. You will be glad you did.
