I would do the same thing I do when I review vulnerabilities in anything.., A - review and research the vulnerability B - determine affected assets (if any) C - review compensating controls D - devise mitigation/remediation strategy E - draft a vulnerability/situation report outlining findings and strategy moving forward F - follow up with relevant teams regarding implementation

This is a great article to start conversations but it is completely reactive. Security is addressed upon design and not a reactionary response. Design your network with security features like an isolated mgmt network, vpn, firewalls (host, internal and external), configuration compliance, access controls, logging and monitoring. For vulnerabilities then it comes down to monthly vendor meetings to review every device type, the OS version they are running and all CVE's they are susceptible to. For each CVE there should be an upgrade timeline determined that fits within the company policy. Mitigations should be identified for each CVE and reviewed for compliance as well.
