What do you do if you receive a job rejection?

I used to worry greatly about not being chosen for opportunities and would doubt myself. However, I now trust in the universe's plan for us. It guides us to where we are meant to be. During a job interview, I noticed the somber expressions of the team. When I inquired about company culture and employee engagement, the room fell silent. The CIO admitted they couldn't answer, and another Director mentioned a former employee who handled culture initiatives. I realized it wasn't the right fit for me and gracefully thanked them for their time. I've come to understand that some rejections serve to safeguard us, leading us towards paths better suited for our growth and happiness.

If you had a great experience and your recruiter or the hiring team gives you positive feedback, stay in touch with them. Interviews are an amazing opportunity to make a positive impression and to network for future opportunities. You never know when another opening will come about, and it's much easier for the recruiting team to circle back to someone they know interviewed well vs starting the selection process over again.

Every rejection is a learning. Stay calm and thank the recruiter for the opportunity, ask for detailed feedback for self-assessment & learning. Assess what went wrong, read, prepare about it.

Maintain an optimistic outlook as you continue your job search. I'm sure you will find the perfect opportunity that aligns with your aspirations and values.

I can not stress this enough. Your network is most definitely your net worth. Master building a meaningful network. Establish relationships.

It’s not the right time!! All things come at the right time. Thank the interviewers. Keep the experience in your back pocket and stay in touch. Just because it’s not the right time now doesn’t mean it might not be the perfect fit in the future, OR there could be something better waiting for you to apply. I believe whether we know it or not, our next opportunity is waiting for us. Never be anything but positive about your future, and never stop working hard for it. Grit, determination, and resilience.
