Being flexible is the only chance we have got. We should be understanding the fact that technology change is expected, and if this is noted as risk then we should also know how it may impact or business processes or the organziation or the program over all. But adapting to newer technologies should not be taken as a hurdle.

Always be in a position of flexibility from the beginning. Even without the impact of new technology, plans must always be adjusted depending on the times and the market as well as external factors. When we notice something needs to be changed, we should take a short break to review the entire process, including retraining members on the new technology immediately. Then we gradually replace old methods with new technology so that the new and the old do not interfere with each other by finding the connection between the new and the old, such as finding the intersection between them to ensure that we change our methods in a non-disruptive way. If we stick rigidly in one direction, we will be left behind.

Make the list of the main new tools that you don′t master. Find 5 sources of learning of each skill (Quickreference, cookbook, "skill for dummy", "skill for beginner",, "Skill bible"). Prioritize the skills you want to learn and make a long roadmap. It takes about 6 months to learn a new skill. When you′ve read and undertood everything about the new skill, then book a professionnal training.

It is vital to form a PM team who are open to new technologies and eager to develop constantly. In reality, there is a risk for huge part of professionals of out-dating themselves. Either technology will out-date them or companies who embrace automated processes will offer better prices and knock-off the others. Kaizen is inevitable!

Disruption is good. Life-long learning is great! Actively seek out new tech and ways of working and use it as an opportunity to improve skills. Early adopters usually get the most benefit from any USPs the tech can provide, so approach it with an open mind, learn what it can do for you and adapt the project to take advantage of it.

Many organizations, on the other hand, love status quo and see the technology adoption as threats while in fact it should improve the processes and make the organization more competitive.

First and foremost, 'Technology' is for managing projects and not the other way round. ~Instead of being new technology centric, focus with your team on the tasks at hand keeping a close eye on the plan. ~Keep a ' Technology' expert to guide you and team members as and when needed. ~Communication as always with internal and external holders is the key to keep things on track. ....and come on, 'disruption' is not the word to be scared of....it's new beginning!!

I think in general, by following frameworks such as the Toyota Production Systems, ISO Standards, Lean methodologies and Six Sigma you will be better at project management. TPS Contains 14 key principles. ISO Standards follow Plan, Do, Check and Act Lean Methodologies follow: Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control I think everyone in management should learn other methodologies this way they have a more balanced approach towards product and project management.
