What do you do if you need to use online platforms and social media for job searching after a layoff?

Join groups, and engage in networking. ?Use Twitter - follow companies/influencers, and share insights with relevant hashtags. ?Build an online portfolio to showcase skills on websites/platforms. ?Join online communities, and forums to network and find opportunities. ?Monitor job boards, and set up alerts for relevant openings. ?Follow companies of interest on social media, and engage with their content. ?Keep track of applications, follow-ups, and networking efforts using spreadsheets or specialized software.

Well, actually, this is what I'm currently doing now: #1 Reflection. Review and update a CV on all platforms, and the file itself, to be ready to send it to HR. #2 Add Visibility. If you are not active on social networks, try to gain some visibility and participate in discussions that interest you. Another option is to create a personal page (I did it.) #3 Check Updates Daily. Regularly check new job ads to catch opportunities. #4 Enjoy the Moment. Now You have free time and motivation for education and prof. development. There are tons of useful and interesting articles, and great authors to read. This is my favorite point. #5 Stay Calm. Panic switches off all analytical skills. Be patient and do your best in things that depend on you.

I use LinkedIn to update my job information. It helps me remember my accomplishments. I also follow inspiring posts to boost my mood. I watch YouTube videos and created my portfolio. Then, I update my resume and CV. I create different versions and review them when I receive rejection emails to see where I can improve. ?

So make sure to improve, upgrade, and polish it regularly. Add all relevant academic & professional endeavours that helped you gain that knowledge and skills. Do mention all certificates and honors that you have in your professional arsenal. Add a good about section! Make sure to make an impact through your online presence. Never forget to engage, interact, and communicate with your professional network for increasing efficiency in your job hunting journey.

Sorry to hear about the layoff. Working your network is critical! Here are a few quick ways to make your network -> work! > Focus on people to expand your network, start a conversation. Brainstorm your future. > See a job opening? Look at interesting people to connect with, start a conversation. > See a company that you want to be a part of? Find a hiring manager or Director that's in the department you want to join, start a conversation > Etc. -> start a conversation! Plugging your resume into the void without focus will not get you too far, or at a minimum will exhaust you quickly. Engaging with people you know, and especially people you don't know super well. Showing your personalities, including causes that you support is OK, but stay away from anything topics that are overly political.

Verify the job posting if necessary and beware of scams and spammers. Filter jobs as per your presences and requirements. Make sure to change resumes when formally applying through a company website.

Be well versed with the basics and necessities of attending a virtual interview. Make sure to use a well lit space that makes the interview experience better for the interviewer. Avoid using gadgets and equipment that complicate things. Use a good headphone as it can help you in listening & speaking. Always be on time! Never enter a professional virtual interview with your personal email address. Use the email address that you often share with recruiters. Make sure that a good professional photo is uploaded for such an email address. Make sure that you have no excessive and loud disturbances which are distractive. Have some basic knowledge of the web platform that would be used for conducting the interview.
