1 Identify the tasks to delegate

The first step is to determine which tasks you can and should delegate. Not all tasks are suitable for delegation, especially those that involve your core competencies, responsibilities, or authority as a BRM. You should also consider the impact, urgency, and complexity of the tasks, as well as the availability and capability of your potential delegates. A useful tool to help you decide is the Eisenhower matrix, which categorizes tasks into four quadrants based on their importance and urgency. You can delegate tasks that are not important but urgent, or not important and not urgent, to free up your time for more important and urgent tasks.

Look at delegating as an opportunity to develop others. Its very tempting to get the boring stuff off your plate and swerve to someone else. My advice is to match your work stack to your team matching the tasks to development opportunities! Empower your people to tackle tasks that enhance or develop and you will be improving your teams performance as well as managing your priorities!

It is best to eliminate Not Urgent and Not Important tasks to free up time and resources for important tasks. Instead, encourage team members to be mindful of how they spend their time and avoid getting caught up in non-essential work.
