If you are unable to maintain real-time communication through chat and video conferencing, then get very good at asynchronous communication, whether it's through Slack, Teams, email, Google Docs, wikis, or any other collaboration platform. The choice of tools matters less than maintaining consistent processes and culture. Remember that folks on your teams need to make decisions where they may not be able to consult you in real-time. Enable them to be productive, or you'll find that they are either constantly blocked or making decisions that reflect a misunderstanding of your needs.
