It is one of the tasks of the leader to encourage diversity in the team. This not only helps eliminate biases which in professional settings may most likely be an unconscious bias. This happens wherein as team members may not be exposed to working with diverse team members across location, they may unknowingly be carrying the bias. Interacting with team members from different backgrounds helps generate a healthy respect and appreciation of what everyone brings to the team. It has also been shown that diverse teams are as much if not more effective in work scenarios.
