If you use a direct quote that is 40 words or longer, put that quote in its own indented block and omit the quotation marks. Each line of the block quote should be indented 1/2 inch from the left margin (the same indentation you’d use to begin a new paragraph, except each line of the block quote gets indented instead of just the first).

Then I work on unifying these perspectives as much as I can. I do this 3 or 4 times, with each iteration being an improvement over the previous.
