Engage in self-reflection and training to recognize and mitigate your own biases. Connect them with relatable role models and networks. Provide a safe space for discussion and guidance on dealing with workplace biases. Don't minimize their feeling or experiences. Boost their confidence by highlighting their achievements and strengths. Actively seek and recommend opportunities for their growth and exposure.

Common challenges to be aware of: 1) Implicit Bias: Mentors may unintentionally hold biases based on race, gender, or other factors. Biases can affect the quality of guidance provided to underrepresented coaches. 2) Stereotypes and Prejudices - facing stereotypes and prejudices can impact confidence and opportunities. Mentors must be aware of these challenges and actively counter them. 3) Networking Barriers: Underrepresented coaches may have limited access to networks due to historical exclusion or lack of connections. 4) Microaggressions: Subtle, everyday acts of discrimination can accumulate over time and affect an individual’s well-being. Mentors should be attuned to microaggressions and create a safe space for open communication.
