Importantly, how you shape and communicate your requests for service, and how your test and validate the delivered service are important functions to keep in-house.

When you outsource a bunch of peoples' work, the remaining people have to work with the outsource company. In this case, the outsource company is staffed by "robots" working to very specific service contracts. So this all comes down to getting your staff skilled at interacting with and managing "robots."

How do you monitor their performance to contract, how do you improve the working relationship, roles and responsibilities, how to arbitrate when things go wrong... when your partner is staffed by "robots," working to very specific service contracts.

These are all crucial practices, but not specific to outsourcing to a cloud provider. This ties back to cloud readiness and maturity. You have most definitely made a large number of compromises over the years with your in-house infrastructure. For example, it is 2023, why do your employees use SSH on any of your servers? It is manual, it takes time, time is money, it is a security risk, it is an operations risk, governing it costs a fortune.

Cloud can mean private, hybrid or Public. Establishing partnerships with suppliers that can help advise on Cybersecurity is just as important wherever you choose to host your company data services. The more places you choose the harder it’s to secure. It’s not rocket science it’s less is more strategy. Partnerships are key! Whoever you choose to protect your data the data owner (the customer) is always the one accountable. Sector knowledge is also an advantage as niche requirements are not straightforward and off the shelf.
