I wish someone has told me this when I was a fresh QA.

Soft skills to make you a better leader! Mostly every industry has a Quality Assurance department. My views are focused for a manufacturing environment, I work in food manufacturing industry. A mentee can be excellent at hard skills, or at least at a satisfactory level of competence but soft skills are something that can’t be taught in traditional course form. A good mentor will ensure that mentee’s hard skills get polished, simultaneously they also nurture leadership qualities, communication skills and teamwork in mentee. Managing emotions, receiving feedback, handling difficult people can be best taught by a mentor, either leading by examples or making mentee face a real-life situation.

In my opinion, you don’t really need a QA mentor in order to research for new tools or alternatives. There are multiple websites that can provide this information and you should feel free to use it by yourself. QA mentor can advise about specific tools in case he tried some of them before, but I prefer the self learning approach

Just do it! A mentor is great, but you can succeed all by yourself, as well. Be careful with forums and YT, because sometimes (or often) I found some stupid things in there, as well. Always be conscious and think if that (what is being said) makes sense and is in line with your experience.
