This is very dicy topic. Whichever is the vendor whether existing vendor or new vendor, one need to have vendor capability model in place. The model need to be supported with automation capturing data and information from peers, social media, third parties, etc. Secondly, one need to find out which business functions is highly dynamic in nature and need constant innovation i.e. customer service, manufactoring / investment process. Thirdly, one need to keep constant search on what new innovations are taking place through various sources and which are the ones to be looked to implement in one's business processes and automation. Finally, the success is vendors and failures is yours, please keep this in mind....
