What are the best ways to use behaviorism to teach math concepts?

This is no doubt an effective strategy, but care should be taken not to apply it excessively, as it has a phycological downfall. This can make students averse to constructive feedback, which might not be what they expect because they are accustomed to praise. We should always prepare our students to accept negative and positive feedback, as learning is not linear.

In my experience as a Certified Trainer, positive reinforcement and overall communication is beyond necessary for increased and improved success. It allows freedom of thinking and advancement of learning based on the person's mindset of accomplishment. It also allows a sense and or nature of trust, which prepares them for increased learning from the instructor. As such, providing accolades to the slightest improvement of growth and knowledge gives a fresh wind of inspiration to the learner to take another step, and also to be willing to ask stalled questions that they may have been too embarrassed to confess for increased cognitive understanding. Communication is key to all stakeholders, and positive reinforcement further endorses it.

This is the right way. When a positive remark is given in a class, to a student not only does it motivate the student but also others.They try to copy the acceptable behaviour to get the appreciation of the teacher. So positive reinforcement changes the environment of the clasd to a more active and charged one.

This type of negative enforcement has lesser impact. The student does get a sense achievement but it would have been more stronger had he completed all problems and then got the reward. Positive reinforcement works better.

Is today's time this way of teaching rarely work. Students are so easily upset by smallest of remarks. Further too much of punishment might make student lose interest in the subject.

Yes. This approach is good. Student understand their error and rectifies it.Again if class population is big this can become tedious for the teacher.

Feedback is the hallmark of teaching; without feedback, a student is lost in the course of learning. The most observable thing about feedback is that it's a two-way thing; the mentor and mentee expect feedback from each other. A teacher expects feedback in the form of an answer or response from the learner, and the learner expects feedback in the form of corrections or suggestions from the teacher. Without accurate feedback, there is no learning or progression. One of the metacognition strategies I endeavor for my students to adhere to is to always seek feedback from the teacher.

This is the oldest form of instruction technique we use to model the behavior we want our students to adopt; after all, seeing is believing. In my opinion, modeling is the most effective teaching strategy in the sense that it helps the learner to easily imitate the instructor and possibly helps the learners seek immediate feedback. It's no surprise that students do well when they practice a lot, and with maths, practicing is the foundation to becoming a specialist. When you practice as an individual on concepts and new things learned, you gain much ground on it and end up becoming a master. I always encourage my students to solve more problems on a topic even the the most challenging ones.

Practising helps a lot. It helps in mastering even the most complicated and complex topics. It's found in research that constant practice creates new neutrons to help in learning even new subjects and topics.
