Following academic journals in the field is the best strategy for me. I read them not only for the content, but also for the developments in the academic writing style. Of course, you tend to read only the articles closely related to your research topic; however, the variety of linguistic journals out there allows to expand your research interests. I always try to read articles on literature and language acquisition in addition to the articles in corpus linguistics - it provides more inspiration and ideas for my own work than I could imagine, although it might not be obvious right away.

Podcasts can be a really useful and informal way of keeping up with the latest research news. It can be tricky to keep on top of the latest research with other conflicting commitments, so listening to a podcast whilst commuting to and from work (for example) can be a good use of time that may otherwise be wasted. I find that this can be a springboard to follow up on areas of interest in peer-reviewed journals at a more convenient time.

As a rule, I would always seek out original literature in peer-reviewed articles as a go to, but social media can be a useful tool to prompt ideas. Social media posts can also be an interesting resource for corpus linguistics research in its own right.
