In my years in the safety profession, I have found that you will build a strong bond with your work force just by being consistent across the board. You have to be honest with them, you have to be honest with yourself, you have to listen to all that they have to say, you need to engage even if the subject is not safety related, you have to take steps above and beyond to get the right answers are lead them to the right people that can, They will see your true integrity and passion for the work and the people that you care about. Never ack like they have less input to the job are conversation because all ideas and questions are needed to be recognized and responded to with respect. Be their voice where they cannot.
