I would suggest strategies such as attending/hosting online seminars and events. Be proactive in reaching out 1-1 later to panelists and speakers via social media with constructive feedback or questions in order to build trust in the community. Set up monthly remote events via webinar/teleconference with special guest experts in the conflict management from different countries as a space to promote inclusive discussions. Use tools like Skype, Zoom, Meetings for 1-1 to build a close-knit network where you can exchange personal experiences. The goal is to position oneself as a reliable, engaged and helpful expert member of the conflict management community and showing up often and consistently shows a proactive and inclusive character.

4 Be respectful and authentic

One of the biggest challenges of networking remotely is to establish trust and rapport with people you've never met in person. You have to be mindful of the cultural and personal differences that can affect how people perceive and respond to your messages. This was the hardest part for me to learn about networking, and it's the same regardless of digital or physical networking. It's all about relationships. There's a misconception that networking is about "what can you offer me" (i.e. a job, new skill, etc.), but the best networking is when you focus on "what can I offer you". That has helped me open WAY more doors than the old school way of viewing networking.

The key is to initiate relationships centered on mutual learning and growth, not one-sided campaigns to boost your own agenda. Provide help generously and connections will naturally develop. Also, in my own experience, it’s been a good option to host or take part in online workshops, seminars or talks related to a specific field of problem solving. Focusing on providing value for attendees rather than promoting oneself and offer insights and advice wherever possible. Another way is to make use of social networking platforms like LinkedIn to connect with CR professionals. Share anecdotes and comment on relevant articles. Join Groups to take part in discussions.
