If you’ve received an offer from a new job, now is the perfect time to try to negotiate flexible work hours. Just be aware that it’s always best to do this before you accept an offer, so you avoid making your new employer too peeved. Work hours is usually something you can discuss in your interview, but if not then take the time at the end dedicated to questions. It’s always worth knowing how flexible a new employer is able to be with you before you sign on the dotted line.

In my experience of flexible work abroad for short term requests it shouldn't really be on the employee to prove their worth. Did you know that 50% of Companies do not have a flexible work from abroad policy, these Companies should look at companies like spotify where having this type of approach/policy has increased the women in leadership roles from 25% to 42%. Additionally, according to PwC 81% of people under 40 have said its an important criteria when choosing a job.

In my experience of flexible work abroad has to work for the employer and the employee. If the employee is requesting the time to abroad to spend with sick or elderly family members it might be that the its not a sustainable solution for the employee and the the employer should look to support in the short term but have a realistic evaluation date with an open and honest discussion.

Its always important to consider risks relating to local laws for taxes , legal and immigration. The landscape changes very quickly and if the employer is not up to date there can be consequences. Stay alert !
