What I tend to do, is to install user recording tools like HotJar. HotJar is a free tool that records user sessions on your websites as videos you can watch and analyse. You can playback user sessions (segregated by devices, locations, and operating systems), and observe how users browse, click, and interact on your website. As opposed to knowing a user spent five minutes on a particular page before clicking an outbound link, I now get to see exactly HOW the user scrolls, where he pauses at to read, and what in-page interaction the user has clicked before finally clicking on that outbound link.
