Regular inspections can greatly increase the productivity of equipment by catching small issues before they become big problems. An example would be If you can install a pin and bushing instead of a line bore or welding in a new boss the machine will be back in service a whole lot sooner.

Correct use by user personnel and regular daily, weekly and monthly checks by authorized personnel. and ensuring and monitoring the creation and implementation of the annual maintenance plan for the authorized maintenance company.

This is true in so many aspects. I see it on a daily basis with heavy equipment. The customer runs multiple manufacturers equipment and believes that if you inspect one piece a certain way that all the manufacturers are designed the same and that is not the case. Each compartment with oil has a certain criteria to follow just to simply check the oil level. Without reading and following the manufacturer’s guidelines, you run the risk of running a component low on fluid and not only causing a costly repair but lost revenue due to downtime as well! I challenge operators at some point in their career to read atleast one operators manual front to back and see how many things they’ve been doing incorrectly!

Manufactures spend millions of dollars engineering and testing to develop guidlines and back their findings with long warranties if you follow those guidlines. With the cost of repairs it only makes sense to take advantage of their standards

I think it is the best way to preserve the life of a heavy stomach. It is adherence to the manufacturer instructions and periodic maintenance stipulated in the catalog for each equipment and the use of original spare parts.

Not only does keeping a machine clean, make it more appealing to potential customers but it also allows the machine to run as it was designed and prevents heat buildup, excess operating weight, as well as makes potential issues easier to recognize and repair.

The operators of all equipment should be responsible for pre shift checks. The operators are the first line against unnecessary break downs a trained operator will normally catch any problem before a major problem occurs

You have to “feed the beast”. Don’t skimp on PMs or routine checks. This will avoid costly down time, production delays and high repair and maintenance costs.

Operators that work day to day with the machine can tell if the noise is different or vibrations aren't usual. Listening to what they can tell, can save a lot of time and money before it gets worse.
