Scrum could be better option compared with Gantt chart . As per my many years of experience, Scrum allows to accommodate vagueness. It also provide better iterative progress visibility. Gantt charts, on the other hands, requires clarities at the beginning itself which might not be always the case for simulation project

Make sure you considered all the phases required for the overall project, not only the "run time". List of activities shall include, but not be limited to: Time to prepare the model, including time to set the mesh if required Time to check correctness of the model by comparison with test samples as available Time to run the simulation of course, with a few check points to adjust the model Time to assess results, and WRITE THE REPORT! Unless you're only require to produce a presentation, results need to be presented in a coherent manner. You can advance some paragraphs, e.g. model description, during the down times (i.e., while the model is running) but better wait and ficus on assessment and conclusions once the full picture is achieved.
