To include critical thinking and teamwork in training, it's good to create activities where everyone works together to solve problems. Also, have discussions to question ideas, use real examples to learn, and do group projects to practice teamwork. Talking about what worked and what didn't helps make these skills better during training.

Critical thinking in the sense of System 2 thinking can be trained by learning Structured Analytic Techniques (SATs). SATs are micro-processes that can be helpful in answering all kinds of questions. As part of the step-by-step application, thinking is made explicit and constructively criticizable. This facilitates collaboration. Examples are Cluster Brainstorming, Key Assumptions Check, SWOT, Analysis of Competing Hypotheses and so forth. Because you can only learn SATs by applying them, they are at the same time a perfect active learning method. The most effective trainings modules nowadays are merging during the learning time the theoretical content with mocking sessions allowing the students to simulate in a real live scenario what they just learned.

The inability to measure and monitor your progress will greatly diminish the forward momentum you are looking to achieve. Sensitizing Why this training is critical and the expectation of the training will set the ideal target for the trainee who undergoes the training process. One of my colleagues said he has eliminated errors in numbers when he was told in training that what you enter or handle is not just numbers it's money. When the trainee understands the cost of a single error after sensitizing critical thinking becomes a very important and impactful aspect. Need for training, the cost of errors or inactions, and the expectations after the training to sensitize the trainees to embark on critical thinking and align them towards the vision of the organization. Critical thinking and collaboration will become part of the process once the vision is clear.

Some interesting feedback in the article, I would like to add which has been missed so far. In my opinion, adding the perspective of a 'doer' and being in the shoes of the learner can go a long way, sometimes during the training it is widely assumed that the learner knows half of the portion which is usually misperception. In my role as resident hall director, I love to get feedback from my Resident Assistant and Front Desk Assistant on what they would like to learn/what should be incorporated into the training. Although in some environments this might not work as generally human tends to be shy while passing feedback, in those circumstances, I like to perform staff duty to physically perform the tasks and use my expertise to identify.
