One should constantly add to, review, and rehearse case studies instead of waiting till interview invitation. The final step is to implement and test the solution you have chosen. This means you need to plan the actions, resources, and timeline for executing the solution and monitor the results and feedback. You also need to test the solution for any errors, flaws, or risks and make adjustments if needed. You can use methods such as trial and error, experimentation, or simulation to test the solution and measure its performance.
One of the best ways to improve your problem-solving skills before an interview is to practice with scenarios and puzzles that are relevant to the job or industry you are applying for. You can find many examples of interview questions, case studies, or brainteasers online or in books that challenge your problem-solving skills and require you to apply your knowledge and logic. You can also ask a friend or a mentor to give you feedback and suggestions on your solutions.
It would help if you went through different problem-solving attributes before appearing in the interview. Focus on the scenarios provided by an interviewer to you the situation you have to link up to the case you have resolved in the past and provide examples and solutions accordingly. The most important thing is not only to highlight the problems but also to provide solutions for their query, at least 2 to 3 good examples that can sort out that issue in a good way.
Another way to improve your problem-solving skills before an interview is to learn from others who have solved similar or different problems. You can read books, articles, blogs, or podcasts that showcase how experts, leaders, or innovators have tackled problems in various fields and domains. You can also join online communities, forums, or groups that discuss problem-solving topics and share ideas and insights. You can also seek advice or guidance from someone who has experience or expertise in the field you are interested in.
Charlie Munger talked a lot about Problem Solving Through Inversion: when facing a difficult problem, invert it. If the interview question is how to achieve a particular goal, ask what would ensure the failure to achieve that goal. Then look at the opposites of those failures to get the necessary steps for success.
