Being able to take perspective is the key. When you're able to see a problem from a higher point of view, you know what kind of modeling and solving tool is the most suited. You'll also be able to know and explain the limits of what you're proposing in a much clearer way. Your value is in understanding the problem quickly and proposing one or several methodologies to solve it.

Let them notice your ability to Define the problem(s). Let your presentation show the willingness to Determine the problem boundaries. Realize that systems do not exist in isolation, and that everything is related to everything else. Allow yourself show a computational approach. Show the poise to Implement the proposed solution. This is more easily said than done. The real worth of what I call your dexterity will depend heavily on the degree of your willingness for cooperation and participation of the various individuals or organizations involved in realizing the benefits anticipated by the OR study through its implementation. You must also display an intrinsic motivation to network with other professionals.
