What are the best ways to design a scalable and sustainable solution?

I am a big advocate for utilising continuous learning theories and using data to inform strategy. Building a solution that you can consistently gain insight from helps show past trends and can predict future trends. I largely use this for developing strategies to improve the health and wellbeing of a workforce. Understanding data from Occupational health, absence and lifestyle health data can show some great predictors for future desire and essential intervention.

1- Begin by asking the fundamental question: Why does this problem matter? What is the underlying purpose or motivation behind addressing it? This step helps establish the significance and relevance of solving the problem. Example: Why is it crucial for our organization to address this problem? What impact does it have on our customers, stakeholders, or the market as a whole? Define the Problem: Do a dive deep into understanding the nature of the problem. What are the pain points, challenges, or inefficiencies that need to be addressed? This step involves gathering insights from various sources, such as user feedback, market research, or internal assessments.

1. Implement best practices from the beginning. 2. Adequate funding / Budgeting 3. Culture conducive to scaling. 4. Effectively communicating. 5. Innovation

You need to perform data analysis by utilizing available sources related with the problem statement. You will gain an insight into the current states, based upon which you will follow up with proposing potential solution alternatives and the resons to select them.

I would go for unexplored opportunities, uncharted territory by seeking customer that lie beyond your existing market space. Think BMW x Tesla: Look for ways to pivot your product's value aimed at non-customers to differentiate yourself from competitors. Example: How can we redefine the problem in a way that opens up new market space? Are there untapped customer needs or segments that we can cater to with our solution? NOTE: Before proceeding further, validate your understanding of the problem and goals with relevant stakeholders, including existing customers, team members, and leadership. Even hire a consultant (ME!) to ensures alignment and buy-in.

Begin by revisiting the "Why" behind solving the problem. Ensure that all generated options are aligned with the core purpose and values of the organization. AND, your customers. Do they value the same things? This step helps maintain focus and relevance throughout the ideation process. Encourage diverse perspectives and approaches during idea generation. Utilize techniques like brainstorming and mind mapping to generate a wide range of options. Create a focus/user group. Host a lunch & learn with your best customers and advocates. Run an online survey. NOTE: Foster an environment where creativity flourishes, allowing for both incremental improvements and radical innovations.

The decision needs to be made holistically ensuring that needs of all end users are satisfied. In some cases, it might also be beneficial to use competing products together to maximize efficiency

Apart from selecting the best solution, you should provide the explanation on why the other alternatives were not selected. To justify the option selected as a best fit.

Prototype promising "solutions" to bring them to life in a tangible form. MVP - Minimal Viable Product. Conduct testing and gather feedback from relevant stakeholders, including end-users (all mentioned above), watch for biases, and evaluate the feasibility, desirability, and effectiveness of each option. This iterative process helps refine and improve the solutions. NOTE: Explore unconventional options that challenge industry norms and create uncontested market space. Look beyond existing solutions and consider how each option can deliver unique value to customers while simultaneously reducing costs or eliminating pain points. Evaluate the potential for differentiation and market appeal.
