What are the best ways to build a personal brand across all platforms?

I was focusing on all platforms at one time in my initial content creation journey. However, when I started focusing on one platform and consistently creating valuable content on it, it helped me increase my followers and build my personal brand on it. Consistency is the key to success.

Defining your goals is a key activity for your personal brand. They are the docking port, the nautical route will follow. Define them and then work hard to achieve them with a proper planning. A common mistake is to change your goals too often. At the beginning spend some more time in order to evaluate the situation and the start your journey.

Pick one or two goals to start and focus on them for 90 days. On LinkedIn, great goals can look like: Networking and Connecting: Connecting with colleagues, potential employers, and industry peers. Educating and Learning: Sharing knowledge, insights, or informative content about your role, industry, or organization. Advocacy & Inspiration: Raising awareness and mobilizing support for various professional issues. Marketing: Building brand awareness, and driving sales. Creativity: Sometimes what we do outside of work influences how we show up at work. This can look like sharing art, photography, and writing. Recruitment and Job Searches Crowdsourcing and Feedback: Seeking advice, opinions, or recommendations.

1) To build a strong personal brand across all platforms, consistently present a cohesive image and message. 2)Ensure your online presence reflects your values and expertise, and use the same profile picture, bio, and style across platforms. 3) Share valuable content that resonates with your target audience, engage with your followers, and stay true to your authentic self.

In my experience, having clarity in your personal branding efforts is key to success. It ensures that every post, image, and interaction is consistent with what your brand stands for. Setting specific goals allows you to measure the impact of your personal brand and make informed decisions about adjusting your strategies to keep up with changes in the market. The compass of well-defined goals guides branding in the digital space, making the journey purposeful and the destination achievable.

Tailoring your message to your audience is crucial in making your branding efforts more targeted and effective. If your audience is young entrepreneurs, your content should address their challenges in a language and style that they can relate to. This can make your message resonate with the right people and result in more engagement and success for your branding efforts.

In my opinion, it's good to role play from the leader to architects and from there to moderators. I found this ideology peaceful and less stressful.

This is important, make sure your brand and goals are aligned fully to your audience, carry out regular audits and surveys with your audience to ensure that you remain aligned and have not deviated from the original strategy.

When building a personal brand, it’s great to be using every single platform but it’s best when you decide to choose one platform you can master and become an expert in. In my opinion, if you’re a career professional, entrepreneur and business owner you definitely need to build a platform on LinkedIn. Using LinkedIn can help you find new job opportunities, new clients, new mentorship and new access to courses which helps with your professional development journey. Once you understand who your target audience is, start posting content consistently and through the value you provide, you will eventually get more opportunities that will elevate your career and business.

Each platform has its own vibe and audience; picking ones that resonate with your brand ensures you're seen and heard by the right people. For instance, visual brands thrive on Instagram, while thought leaders often find a home on LinkedIn. Also, it's wise not to spread yourself too thin across too many platforms, as consistency in posting and engagement can bolster your brand's presence. Cross-promoting content across platforms you are active on can also extend your reach. Additionally, leveraging these platforms' analytics can offer insights to refine your strategies.

Fish where the fish are. Once you know who you are trying to serve, go where they are. The other thing to consider is format of choice. Brand building is a long game - unless you have a team like Gary Vee to post content 24/7, it’s going to be you. Choose a format that you gravitate towards, or else it’s going to fizzle out.

Platform selection is very important and animal nutritionist like me should choose LinkedIn. In my opinion, authenticity and honesty must be maintained in that platform.

It's important to design and map out the communication process, how frequently updates are provided, how frequently status updates are provided, as well as the content of such, how much detail is required, how much information is shared as well as the medium used, electronic, paper etc. F2F is also quite important, it may be also be of value to schedule conferences or engagement sessions accordingly.

I share a lot about mental health and burnout. To be more effective, reach out people outside of my inner circle, I did co create a platform to share awareness and educate others. We share articles and sometimes add our thoughts too. We also create podcasts and videos. This can be done by asking a question or getting their best tip on a specific topic 2: Emphasize your point by including data or relevant research done e.g., by a university 3: Write/share content that you are passionate about - it shows

This is one that took me a while to understand, what I thought was valuable content and what my audience thought was valuable content, isn't always the same. Many times your audience does not have the expertise you have and as creators we tend to forget that it's often about sharing the simple or basic concepts of something that helps our audience the most. I've gotten more positive feedback sharing basic ideas, while some of the more content with more advanced advice has fallen on deaf ears.

Shy away from acronyms, as acronyms are sometimes confusing and considering the global market that we operate within, may cause more confusion. The use of different platforms, needs to be carefully analysed to ensure that the audience that the platform targets is appropriate for your material.

Authenticity is the start point while building a personal brand. Authenticity comes from the intent and not content. Building a personal brand is a serious game, that needs honesty, commitment and hardwork to reach the pinnacle!

I had a burnout 7 years ago. Since the day that I fully recovered, I took it as a mission to share awareness on mental health and educate others. Most of my external work on that piece is done via LinkedIn. Authenticity is part of my self brand. It is purely intentional. I may not have millions of followers, but those who read my posts appreciate the authenticity, the human components, the vulnerability of those moments when I am not fine and share it with others. Too often we see for instance entrepreneurs bragging about the millions they are making...but far too rarely those who struggle daily. To those who share their pain, I always share a few words of gratitude because they are being open and honest!

What I find to be helpful is having a consistent voice over every platform. Building a personal brand is in a way building brand trust. So consistency builds trust and trust builds a community.

Building a personal brand isn't just about obtaining success. It's also about defining and sticking to your principles and not allowing external forces to compromise your integrity. When you are clear about what you stand for (and stand against), you can base your decisions on more than just monetary value.

Develop trust, confidence, integrity in the brand that you are selling to your audience. This is your reputation at the end of the day, if it changes or cracks appear in the authenticity of your content and brand, people will be quick to pick up on it, and you may find less views and interaction with you.

Find like minded people to grow together. Remember that it’s not a zero sum game. Connect, collaborate, and form relationships - that’s the fun part of it all.

I started to talk about mental health after my episode of burnout in 2016. 99% of the times I would share my testimony, the feedback, the comments were extremely positive which reinforced that new mission in life. Once in a while I got criticised, not to the extent of haters, but honestly I don't care. I respond with respect anyhow. Talking about mental health can be draining all right and 3 years ago I did create a platform with articles, podcasts, etc. That was a way to protect myself from the pain and suffering from others. I must say that it is far easier to respond to any type of comment when you are using the "entity" name for instance.

To establish long-lasting business networks and relationships with potential clients, being curious, asking questions, and listening actively are key components. Networking is about building relationships, not just making contacts or "getting phone numbers". Showing a genuine interest in others - also within fields or areas that are not the same as yours, helps build a solid foundation. And don’t be afraid to start a conversation. Ask open-ended questions that facilitate conversation.

People will always say to find people in the same or similar industry to connect and network with. But don't underestimate the value of connecting with those outside of your industry. We can learn a lot from what others do across different sectors/industries. Listen to people who are different to you, think differently to you, and perhaps don't always agree with you - that's where we can grow and develop new connections and understanding. It might surprise you where a new connection or a different way of thinking can take you.

This is key on any platform, engage with your audience and engage with other creators. Some of the connections I have made through creating social media content are amazing, people that wouldn't answer my calls if I tried calling them prior, I now have the cell phone numbers for. Not because of the base content, but because of the discourse that followed in the comment sections, which often led to a conversation offline. People often forget that Social Media can be the best way to network, when you engage with your audience.

Take time to see who you are connected with already, how are you engaging, where are you contributing. Perhaps ask a trusted friend or colleague to give you feedback on how you show up already. Start from there and be ready to nurture your existing network and grow it as needed.

Test and then commit! Explore the different platforms and figure out which one you enjoy the most, you are far more likely to actually be consistent with it when you enjoy it. I for example joined TikTok as a joke, gained 2000 followers in my first 6 days. Then went on to setup a second account for the business that grew to over 70k followers in about 6 months. Not in a million years would I have thought that TikTok would have ended up being my platform of choice, but here we are building up more and more accounts expanding our follower base for different aspects of both the business and my personal brand.
