Aircraft technicians in my operation maintain recency using multiple training techniques. Weekly debriefs from safety meetings detailing issues discovered by the inspection department is a great way to reiterate basic Part 135 Maintenance Manual processes and procedures. Our technicians are also required to complete an annual written competency assessment derived from company policies and procedures. This is a great way to ensure knowledge retention on specific areas. Finally our corporate standards require all maintenance technicians to take OEM recurrent training every two years. This recurrent training gives the technicians an opportunity to be trained on updates, modifications, or improved repair techniques from the manufacturer.
