1/ Bosses R rarely technical 2/ U've not been hired 2 "showcase your technical skills" /brag 3/ Technical skills can become obsolete with time! 4/ Bosses have fleeting existence! & so: - just understand the role /company expectations i.e. what needs 2 B done & by when; - understand how expectations R measured at your company & meet &/or exceed those expectations; - NEVER "showcase your technical skills" /brag, it's a losing strategy /U've not been hired 2 brag /showcase how smart U R &/or showcase anything; - your boss is not as smart as U might assume, just think of him as a "necessary evil" hired 2 decide the color of toilet paper; - your objective should always B 2 start your own company ? - & read Dilbert comic strips, they're 4 real ??
