Questions that might come up include, but are not limited to: 1. What access to power does electric have, and will they need a generator? 2. Where can equipment be staged? 3. Are there bathrooms available? 4. Where will craft service and lunch be set up? 5. What is parking like? 6. Does the location have windows? If so, how big are they, and what direction do they face? 7. Where will the sun be while you’re on set? 8. What time does the location get busy, and how will that be for sound?

I'm a big fan of backing up during the shoot to multiple drives/the cloud and keeping the images and/or footage on the cards until the shoot is finished. Cards are cheap, reshoots are very expensive and don't make you look good to the client.

Even when you believe you’ve done your legwork get set for disrupters. They’re out there and waiting, often with outstretched palms. It’s always wise to have “walking around money.” The night before we were to erect a stage on a Brooklyn pier, longshoremen moved a 1,500 pound bulkhead to the middle of our location. Five hundred dollars in the right hands and problem solved. There “happened to be” a huge forklift behind a nearby shed. Setting up “big shoots” in a big city often requires being able roll with the punches. Sometimes the punches turn out to be low blows.
