What is the best way to negotiate a salary increase when you get promoted in BPO?

Few point to consider, In a BPO, to know your worth are: 1. Domain knowledge & certification of industry in which you are working. 2) Professional achievements, not only from the company but also from client. 3) Tool usage expertise in industry specific module (SAP, ERP, Oracle). 4) Subject matter expert in domain. 5) Are you in client facing role. 6) Contribute in thought leadership & white paper publication

In my experience as an employer the worst employees think that they are the most valuable. And these are usually the types that regularly ask for raises. In nearly 20 years of managing people I have yet to figure out this phenomenon.

Acheivements matter which is the foundation for a productive negotiation, however promotions and salary raise also depends on what you bring on the table and your worth to the company going forward. The concerned stakeholders should be convinced and confident on the value addition that you bring to the company.

1. Prepare the contents that work for you, meaning your achievement and growth potential. If needed consult with any of your mentor.. 2. Arrange a formal meeting with your line manager, let him know your top line agenda, 3. Then, talk about yourself and your future values to the organization, department and ensure you have all justification and facts/figures that support you. 5. Also prepare and submit your conversation in written, so that your line manager / concerns can take you forward. 6. Ensure you promote your potentiality with carefully and ensure to business that you will carry on your current role as usual. 7. Have a follow up dates and agreed on certain things and say thanks for his/her time and guidance.. 8. Good luck..

Do not ask, your professional credential to speak. 1. Participate in all events in company and be active in any of the activity on monthly basis that can display your name in company across all its delivery centres. 2) Take initiative in driving events. 3) Collaborate with cross functional team even if its not related directly to your work scope and learn.

A good time to ask for a raise is after you have proven your dedication and longevity as an employee with a great work ethic and also a great attitude. But, one very important thought; as an employer myself most of the salary increases that we have given out were not asked for. A good employer will recognize great employees when the credit is due without being asked.

The right time is when you are ready to leave the company if salary is not increased. Hence, question self - am I ready? and if the answer is no then just focus on building domain and management skills and competency

The most important benefit to consider is growth in career you can achieve in the organization. As you stays in the company you will know people across departments and hierarchy, process and systems. As you scale up the growth ladder, your relationship within company will play great role in implementing your decision and succeeding at this will have exponential increase your salary
