Collecting data is basically good, but it helps if I know what I want to use it for and how. If I collect supplier data such as quality, prices, reliability, etc., I have to make sure that I collect the data systematically, otherwise it won't be useful. It seems essential to me that I can compare this data with the requirements of the products to be procured. This means that I must first be able to systematically capture the requirements and complexity of a product or product group in order to be able to compare these with the results and the collected data. Not every supplier is suitable for the same complexity!

If the supplier gets the products suitable for him, he will deliver better results. The question is, which suppliers are suitable for my products based on the requirements/complexity? The allocation of the items to be procured to the suitable suppliers holds huge potential in terms of savings, simplified processes and better results and therefore also for vendor management.

By partially or fully automated standard processes, a lot can be optimized and there is more time for further innovations (80:20). It is important that constantly changing influencing factors are taken into account and that the impact of cost or quality drivers on the results is also comprehensible. This sharpens the focus and simplifies negotiations.

Innovation need to address not just current needs but also future needs of the customer We need to understand where the industry is moving in the next 5 years and what products and services the customer would be interested in. To give an example sustainability, reducing carbon emissions , diversity equity inclusiveness are all need of the hour now and vendors are evaluated based on new metrics .
