I've never worked on an automotive project before. But with modern vehicles being computers on wheels, I'd say it's most important to understand how software is tested, accepted, deployed, and released. A deployment is moving code from one env to another. A release is turning on features in an env. Here are the questions I would ask before defining a process: - how is software tested? simulation? actual vehicle? - how close is the test environment to production? how are deltas handled? - how does acceptance testing work? who gets involved? what's the cycle time? - how often is software released? at maintenance time? how often is that? via the web? And so on.
