There are so many collaborative tools these days that are quite literally - 'at your fingertips'. You can use these tools to stay engaged and to stay on target with goals and expectations. Especially for new employees who have been hired into a remote position and have never met anyone within their organization in-person before, it is especially important to stay engaged and creating an onboarding 'experience'. Having an engagement plan as leaders could prove very beneficial!

In my experience it is imperative that you ask your employees how they like to communicate especially with so many tools at our fingertips. At my company during onboarding we ask employees to complete a one pager called "About Me". In this document they share information such as working hours, how they like to communicate, how they give feedback, how they like to receive feedback, etc. They can then share this document with anyone in the company.
