As a Security specialist you need to subscribe to some reputable Cyber Security blogs, Websites and forums and follow them. in this case the best is to focus on those which are specialist on authentication and auditing. some of the websites I personally follow and can recommend are: Dark Reading, SecurityWeek, and Krebs on Security often cover authentication trends and best practices.

what I personally always try to do is to have my own lab and try to test new tools, technologies and methods. the good news is that we can trial them with no cost and learn a lot during the process. Technology in Security is improving very fast and trialling new tech would help us a lot in staying up-to-date.
