There are 3 essential elements for successful climate planning that will result in implementation: 1. Engagement with every department from public works to community services. A climate plan will impact each department and without their engagement and buy in, actions will never happen. 2. Community involvement must be an ongoing conversation with community members not just workshops. Most efforts spend too much time on what should be done - we know that answer. Focus on HOW to implement climate actions in an equitable way. 3. Bring in decision makers early and often. Bringing in city leaders early and at key points in the project will provide that implementation focus to get support and funding for the actions that are needed.
