I have edited a lot of dialogue over the years and I can break it down into several categories, each one with its own challenges. I cut a lot of radio spots and the best take will many times run slightly longer than the :30 I need. At this point it's cutting out two to five frames from various gaps to get it to the 30 without making it sound crowded, etc. Another one is when dealing with a real-time record being re-purposed for a web based training program cutting out every "Uh" and "Er" on the recording while keeping the cadence natural sounding.
