1 Understand the requirements

Before you start writing test cases, you need to understand the business requirements and the goals of the system. You can use various sources of information, such as functional requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, use cases, wireframes, prototypes, and stakeholder feedback. You should also clarify any ambiguities, assumptions, or dependencies with the business analysts, product owners, or end-users. By understanding the requirements, you can identify the expected outcomes, inputs, outputs, and behaviors of the system.

I would be very careful lumping these things together as sources of requirements. You can quickly stumble down the garden path if you don't take stock of what your organization's process is. Of course, teams do things differently, but my team documents requirements first. We're not the product owners, but we work directly with them to document their requirements. Those come from whatever resources we're provided, and are "translated" by me and my team. From there, we gain agreement that we've captured them as expected. Once confirmed, then we create architecture documentation to represent systems changes, and tickets containing the user stories and acceptance criteria to ensure development builds what was asked.

Test cases can easily be created from well-authored acceptance criteria because they are all in imperative format and should be binary-testable (true/false or pass/fail) without conditional logic or subjectivity.
