I applaud those schools who are reintroducing the Bible into curriculum for students. If you are looking for moral education, I can't imagine a better place to look. This isn't necessarily about the dogma of religion. The morality of how to treat others and how to conduct yourself as a person with integrity is all there. I find Proverbs particularly useful in this regard.

Defining the concepts and principles of morality from an early stage is important for students to embrace these as a part of their character and personal values. The education has to transition through the levels starting with verbal and visual aids, role-modelling maturing to case studies and what is ethically right. Similarly in organisations the moral code of conduct should be reinforced regularly for employees to adopt to the recommended culture and principles of the organisation.

Ultimately, the world needs more philosophers - not philosophy students. Students must be driven not to simply learn and parrot these concepts but to craft them into a workable framework for decision-making. We are confronted with ethical dilemmas every day, which means that people have to apply these concepts NOW. A good curriculum will not just teach these concepts but will encourage students to build them into to the ethical framework they have used and are using every day. You do not learn Aristotle for the sake of learning Aristotle, but rather to identify and apply concepts that enhance your operational ethical decision-making process. Students will engage when they see practical application versus philosophical navel-gazing.
