It was always ideal to be connected in local forums and groups where we share our experiences, learnings and provide mentoring to others who need it. Likewise in this process we also seek mentoring and seek support, knowledge from more experts to gain additional information, knowledge.

Other things which I've found useful by joining a local chapter of an event professional association are: 1. Leadership and volunteer opportunities: You can grow and develop your leadership skills. 2. Credibility: You can demonstrate your membership on your resume, portfolio & social media profiles to demonstrate your commitment to the field. 3. Award and scholarship opportunities: You can be recognized within your local industry, which can boost your professional credentials. 4. You can contribute to the professional development of the event industry in your local area. 5. Advocacy: Associations can help you advocate for local industry issues & help develop best practices And finally, you can feel supported by a local community.

Meeting with associates in the event industry is essential. And it can be a lot of fun too! In my experience as a professional event emcee, I have enjoyed meeting--especially in person--with meeting planners, event producers, program coordinators, and conference organizers. I recommend "3 P's for these meetings. Ask your associates: How could we Partner together? Do you have any Problems I can assist with? Are there People in my network you'd like to meet? The goal is to look for win/win scenarios. What matters most is making new friends in the industry and strengthening long-term relationships.
