A lot of directors have difficulty conceptualizing three-dimensionally. For them, a flat rendering or ground plan isn’t enough. This is when 3D software comes in handy. But even then, some directors still struggle. A physical model is always the way to go, as it offers them something to touch, study, play around with, and determine lighting. Some people just need that physical, real connection.
